Who we are and what we do
We provide assistance and support to public and private patients for:
- couples who are having difficulty getting pregnant
- those suffering from recurrent miscarriages
- those requiring genetic and other advice about future conception and pregnancy
We investigate both partners using the latest tests, following NICE clinical guidelines for fertility problems.
We also have access to tests that cannot be done in Jersey (charges may apply).
When a diagnosis is made or unexplained, we offer assisted help in conceiving and early intervention for recurrent miscarriage.
This can be in the form of:
- monitored follicle tracking and timing of intercourse
- medication to induce ovulation in women who do not regularly ovulate
- Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) for mild ‘Male’ factor problems
- Donor Sperm Insemination (DI) for men who have no sperm or very poor sperm
- single women and same sex couples
- tubal surgery and laser treatment to endometriosis
- early pregnancy support following fertility treatment or recurrent miscarriage
- hormone treatment for men with abnormal endocrine problems affecting fertility
We also work in conjunction with private services to support and help patients travelling off island for Advanced Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART).
These include:
- In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and related treatments
- pre-implantation genetic screening
- donor egg replacement
- storage of sperm and eggs
- surrogacy

What to expect
We are a small team lead by a consultant with support from:
- Staff Grade Doctors
- Clinical Nurse Specialist
- staff nurse
- administrator
We work closely with leading fertility units throughout the UK and the world. All care is aimed to give you the best options for treatment and outcomes.
Some treatment and options are not provided in Jersey or funded by HSSD. There are set criteria for eligibility for funded treatment. Contact us on +44 (0) 1534 444082 to check if you are eligible.
We assist and support you in accessing recommended treatments off-island. We act as a Satellite Service for
The Lister Fertility Clinic in London.
To access our service, your GP must refer you to our consultant. We advise that you attend your GP as a couple (if applicable). They conduct some tests before we can see you. Contact us on +44 (0) 1534 444082 for details of these tests.
Our waiting time can be up six months for your first consultation. Appointments are allocated in:
- date order of referral
- completeness of tests carried out by GP
- age at time of referral
Occasionally, we have cancellations, which can mean that we see you sooner.
It can speed up the referral process if you have completed all the tests with your GP first. Your GP then provides us with a detailed medical history of both partners.
You can also have treatment privately. You need to fund it yourself as most insurance companies don't fund fertility care. You can call us on +44 (0) 1534 618128 for advice.
Your first appointment
Your first appointment is always as a couple (if applicable), and usually only consists of a consultation. Occasionally, we offer the female an ultrasound scan. In a small number of cases, we may examine the male during this appointment.
We usually ask the female to contact us when they are having their period. We do the scan between days two and four of a menstrual cycle. If further investigations are needed, we provide you with instructions.
If you have had treatment or investigations elsewhere, it helps if you can provide copies to us.
Fees
If the female is over 40 years of age, any treatment offered is chargeable. These fees vary depending on the treatment and are provided on an individual basis. You can call us on +44 (0) 1534 618128 for advice on private services.
If the female is over 42 years of age, charges apply for any medication used for fertility treatment.
