Four local candidates have been appointed to sector leadership positions in the newly-formed Economy Department within the Government of Jersey.
The Economy Department was formed in 2020 following the merger of Economy with the Financial Services and Digital Economy. The four roles have been filled by internal candidates, following an external recruitment campaign, shortlisting and interviews.
Rebecca Millar joins the team as Head of Local Economy, having previously worked within the External Relations team as Principal External Relations Officer (Global Markets). Stephanie Peat will continue to lead the Digital Economy team which includes telecoms, cyber-security and data protection.
Kate Le Blond has been appointed as Sector Lead for Growth and Trade, and previously worked as Inward Investment Development Manager for Locate Jersey. Ian Clarkson has been appointed as Sector lead for Hospitality and Retail, having previously worked as Registrar of Aircraft and Shipping.
Paul Millbank has been appointed as Sector Lead for Culture, Arts, Heritage and Sport, having previously worked as Senior Policy Officer in the Office of the Chief
Richard Corrigan, acting Director General of Economy, said: “I’m pleased to be welcoming Kate, Ian, Paul and Rebecca to these important management roles within the Economy team and congratulate each on this next stage of personal career progression: their expertise and understanding of Jersey’s unique situation will help us to continue promoting Jersey’s interests in a post-Brexit landscape.”
Minister for Economic Development, Senator Lyndon Farnham, said: “These appointments will support the Island as we respond to the economy-wide challenges and opportunities presented by the UK’s departure from the European Union.
“These appointments demonstrate the wealth of knowledge and expertise we already have on-Island, and which we can harness to improve Jersey’s economic outcomes.”
